The rail turned out quite
The rail turned out quite beautiful and sturdy. I got the 3 stair newel for my front porch as I needed to steady elderly visitors we have from time to time. I did have to work a bit more than I expected … the screws are quite long and do require a hammer drill if you want to install the unit in a reasonable amount of time. I didn’t have to cut my post, thankfully, as the wrought iron is pretty thick. The self tapping screws did not work as promised, but it was easy to drill some holes to attach the rail to the post. Just start small and work up. Once at the right size, the screws did quite well. I think that the instructions could be a bit more clear, but anyone who is a bit on the handy side can figure out ways around the hurdles that come up. In the end, with some fits and starts, I have a very beautiful addition to the front of my house at a fraction of the cost that was quoted to me by several contractors.
